Another cause behind
puffy eyes is fluid retention, which can
be prompted by a change in weather
(climate) or hormone levels. Eye puffiness
is not seen as a symptom of seriousness or
that of a cosmetic concern, but if you are
worried about the swelling then you must
consult your doctor. You can try these few
useful tips on how to prevent puffy eyes
from occurring.
On retiring to bed
you should raise your head when sleeping at
night. This will help control the fluid
build-up from flooding the eye
region.
Try applying a
cool water compress to the skin below the puffy
eyes. Other ways, refreshing to the skin is to
use chilled cucumber slices/gel mask or even
cool moist tea bags.
Being a heredity
condition is not ruled out to being
another reason for regular puffiness
around the eyes. Be cautious when using
over the counter medication; always do as
instructed by following the instructions
accordingly. This particular area is very
sensitive and tender, so be extra careful
when you begin treatment on the eyes and
with what you treat them with.
Infected eyes can
be tender so when applying a compress or creams
do not rub hard, gentle dabbing will be fine.
Make sure you wash your hands before and
directly after applying medicinal lotions in
case there may be an infection present. If the
puffy eyes is severe and there is no sign of
the puffiness disappearing (swelling - edema)
speak with a medical practioner. Your doctor
can dismiss other possibilities to the cause
behind the puffy eyes and determine other
conditions like thyroid or kidney problems if
these are the cause. Conditions can stem from
side effects from certain medications. Be
careful on what medicines you administer to
reduce any puffiness.
Never use another
persons medication that they may have
been prescribed for a condition relating
to the eyes, however in saying that never
use any tablets or pills used for
whatever other ailment that a doctor has
given to someone else as this can be very
dangerous indeed. The eyes are very
important organs so therefore treat them
as such; wrong treatments and personally
created home remedies should be
determined by your doctor before any
application takes place. The eyes are a
delicate part of the body and will need
to be treated so.
