"NATURAL"
But Mighty Powerful Treatment For
Sore
Throat!
Can you
die from having a sore throat, no, that is if
it is only a sore throat your suffering from.
This condition is not life threatening, however
this does not mean you should ignore it, in
fact all the more reason to visit the doctor`s
surgery to make sure it is not a life
threatening condition you have and definitely a
sore throat.
It is known that a
viral infection is the cause of a cause sore
throat. Sore throat symptoms can have you lose
your voice and suffer hoarseness, cough, high
fever, nausea and feeling lethargic. It also
causes the glands in your neck to swell .
Normally within a couple of days of the
infection happening the symptoms tend to
worsen, however they can gradually disappear
within a week but should the symptoms persist
speak with your GP.
If you have children
then you need to be on the ball so as to
speak and keep an eye on them so that
they don`t suffer more than necessary. It
is always best to have the child checked
over, we adults can fend for ourselves
but depending on the age of the child,
he/she cannot. Once you have a definite
diagnosis it will give mum and dad more
insight on how to look after the child
and to treat their illness.
A severe sore
throat could be confused with tonsillitis.
Tonsillitis is an infection of the tonsils at
the back of the mouth. Symptoms are pus at the
back of the mouth which appears like white
spots around inflamed and swollen tonsils.
Drink plenty of liquids because without
realizing it you can become mildly
dehydrated.
For the pain you can
take Paracetamol which is an effective
painkiller for tonsillitis. Soluble
paracetamol held in the mouth can have a
longer lasting effect on pain than
non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs
such as ibuprofen. You can also gargle
with soluble aspirin. Another fine source
for soothing pain is to gargle with salt.
Throat and tonsil infections we associate
to a virus, although bacteria can be
reason too. If a bacterium is present you
may need antibiotics, however antibiotics
do not kill viruses therefore we have to
depend on the body`s immune system for
this.
The tonsils are tiny
glands to the rear of your throat. They
are lymph organs and are part of the
lymphatic system. Tonsillitis is
inflammation of your tonsils. It's caused
by a viral or bacterial infection.
Particular viruses and bacteria that
cause tonsillitis can consist of the
influenza virus, the Epstein-Barr virus
(glandular fever) and group beta
haemolytic Streptococcus bacteria. There
are many people who look to treat their
own conditions and illnesses because they
don`t like going to the doctor, either
through fear, or they feel they are being
a nuisance. Your GP will not see it this
way at all as he/she is there to help
treat and cure. It is always safe to have
any health concern determined by a
doctor.
Symptoms of tonsillitis
sore throat
•
tiredness
• high
fever
• pain when
swallowing
• bad
breath
• ear and
headaches
Other signs
are
• red swollen
tonsils
• reddening at the
back of the throat
• white pus spots
on your tonsils
• the glands in
your neck are larger than normal
The virus or
bacterium causing the infection is infectious
and can be passed onto others through physical
contact like kissing. You can also infect
another human being by coughing and
sneezing.
You could try
using Benzydamine hydrochloride (e.g. Difflam)
mouthwash or spray for the pain. Penicillin is
normally prescribed for tonsillitis; if you are
allergic to penicillin then the alternative to
this is
erythromycin.
Strep throat: caused by
the bacteria group a streptococcus is an
infection we associate with children over
three years old. Symptoms start with high
temperature (fever), a red, swollen
throat and tonsils normally coated with
pus (white spots,) swollen glands, loss
of appetite and a decrease in energy
level.
If symptoms
persist of your sore throat then let your
doctor check you over. Kiddies are much
different to adults and have no say over what
medication they are given by their parents, so
it is purely because of this purpose that the
child`s condition is determined by a medical
expert so they are being treated with the right
medicines for their specific
illness.
